Communication
by Joseph Fedorowsky
In the context of personal development, the subject of communication generally
brings to mind the transfer of information from one person to another. The idea being that you can learn many
different ways and methods to more efficiently share information between one another.
And that, of course, is certainly an important aspect of
communication.
The topical area of communication as it is discussed here, however, has more to do
with a focus on communication as it relates to you -- that is, information from yourself to yourself
-- in the context of your own personal power.
In this way, communication, like the time element, can be seen as a component of
your own personal power.
From this viewpoint, the subject of communication has a great deal to do with your
own awareness of yourself, where and how you place your attention, and the extent to which you acknowledge yourself
within that awareness.
Internal communication has historically been seen as fairly simplistic. You
get data from your surroundings, your environment, through your senses, you then process that data through your
brain, which is influenced by your past experiences and how you are wired, and presto! out comes some pertinent,
and hopefully significant, thoughts about the particular situation at hand, which you then either accept or
reject.
Viewing communication as essentially the cognitive processing of information and
the transfer of data between individuals is not exactly invalid. It is a way of looking at things. It’s
just that it’s a rather one dimensional way of looking at what is, in actuality, a complex, multi-dimensional
reality with you at the center.
Understanding communication as it relates to your own personal power, therefore,
is much different and much expanded, as it is based on a much broader context.
As you no doubt already intuitively know, there’s a whole lot more going on within
yourself than simply the processing and transferring of information and data.
In fact, the rich, complex streams of communication which you have access to
within yourself (but about which you may not be fully, objectively aware) offers layers-upon-layers of information
to you within literally every moment and within every state of consciousness.
For example, information you directly present to yourself in the form of emotion
or feeling or impulse, whether during waking or dreaming, opens the door into an entire world of communication
beyond the scope of mere cognitive processing.
To really grasp and get a handle or overview on the incredible complexity within
your own world of internal communication, then, it would be helpful to objectively understand what exactly the
various streams of communication are, how that functions within your broader reality and how you go about fully
tapping into those streams of communication to your immediate advantage.
In being able to objectively, consciously, tap into your own internal
communications, and in understanding the vast amount and variety of information you share with yourself literally
within every moment, whether awake or asleep, you effectively broaden access to your own personal power. And
this is the point.
You can’t realistically expect to tap into your own wealth of personal power
without being in a position to access your own internal communications any more than you can realistically expect
to operate complex machinery without being in a position to view the full instrumentation panel.
Understanding your own personal, internal communication as a component of your own
personal power will naturally lead to more freedom of movement. This is your way to personal power and
freedom.
